Ascent Primary Care is a new independent primary care practice opening in January 2025. This is the new home of Dr. Mark Niehaus, who has been practicing in Central Virginia since 2003. Ascent will be a part of Privia Health, and Dr. Niehaus will continue to be affiliated with Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital and specialists.

Ascent will accept the same insurance plans that Dr. Niehaus currently accepts at Sentara Family Medicine at Belvedere. All current patient appointments scheduled in January 2025 and beyond will transfer to the new practice with patient approval. Please check back with us in December 2024 for instructions on the patient transition process. Ascent will defer accepting new patients in early 2025 to ensure a smooth transition for existing patients. New patients interested in Ascent Primary Care should check back in April 2025.
